Committee Descriptions and Chairs

Ambassador Committee
2011 Chair: Eric Longphee, Raymond James & Associates

Ambassadors serve as public relations support for the Chamber of Commerce. They assist the Chamber’s efforts to maintain and retain members through personal interaction and involvement.

Emerge Tampa Bay Program
2012 Chair: Andrew Smith, Windstream

Emerge Tampa Bay will connect and engage emerging leaders ages 21 to 35 in activities that support our community and the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce while making Tampa, Hillsborough County and surrounding communities a more energetic, exciting and active place to live.

Golf Tournament Committee
2012 Chairs: TBD

Plans the Chamber’s annual golf tournament, obtains sponsorships and prizes and recruits participants.

Leadership Tampa Program
2012 Co-Chairs: Lilly Ho-Pehling, Crisis Center of Tampa Bay, Inc. and Mark House, The Beck Group

Members of Leadership Tampa are local business people who hold mid to upper level management positions within their companies or organizations. They also demonstrate concern for community issues and volunteer their time to three or more service organizations. The selection process is intensive, as the class size is limited to approximately 55 members.

Membership Committee
2012 Chairs: Doug Pace, Bayshore Solutions and Holly Tomlin, Tomlin Tested Staffing

The membership committee is the volunteer extension of the Chamber sales team, assisting in targeting of new members and retention of existing members, focused on helping members identify the best methods for them to utilize their Chamber membership.

Military Affairs Council
2011 Chair: Brig. Gen. Tanker Snyder, U. S. Air Force (Ret), NTDA - Tampa Bay Chapter

Maintains positive relations with the men and women who serve at MacDill Air Force Base and the military in general.

Policy Council
2012 Chairs: Ronald Christaldi, Esq., Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick LLP and Maryann Ferenc, Mise en Place 

Surveys key local constituent groups and Chambers members to identify legislative issues of high importance to the business community and constructs the annual Business Agenda. Monitors and keeps members regularly informed on pending legislation of business interest at the federal, state and local levels. Liaisons with elected officials representing Tampa and Hillsborough County.

Small Business of the Year Committee
2012 Chair: Ralph Garcia, Pender Newkirk & Company LLP

Plans and executes the nomination and selection process of the Small Business of the Year awards and obtains sponsorships for the program.

Sporting Clays Tournament Committee
2012 Chair: Corey Neil, The Bank of Tampa

Plans the Chamber’s annual sporting clays tournament, obtains sponsorships and prizes and recruits participants.

Women of Influence Committee
2012 Chair: Renee Scott, State Farm Insurance Co.

Plans the Chamber’s Annual Women of Influence luncheon, obtains sponsorships and prizes and recruits participants.
